News – Health food with a side of cool at California Soul Bowl
The very cool and colourful California Soul Bowl, which specialises in non-dairy fruit blends with a modern twist, opens today in Brighton.
Owner and ‘master blender’ Stephen Parsons, a British music producer who lived in California for many years, noticed a rising trend in the Golden State for bowl meals of blended fruit combined with crunchy granola. He hadn’t come across anything similar in the UK, and so California Soul Bowl was born. Here in Brighton, a city boasting a higher than average population of health-food lovers, his venture is sure to attract attention.
The concept is simple: choose from seven blends – each contains fruit, a non-dairy milk and a superfood booster – then customise it into whatever you fancy. For £4.90, you can experience the full Combo Bowl by adding homemade granola, fresh fruit salad and a seed topping. Add fruit juice to your blend choice to make a smoothie for £3.30; or for £3.50, top your blend with granola and shaved raw chocolate – a ‘California Sorbet’. Also on the menu are locally-made superfood energy balls and raw chocolate snacks.
